Long story short

  • Wake up: 7:00. I ended up lying in bed for an hour and before emerging

  • Breakfast: BACON!!! Idk what’s it’s called in China, but the thing I wrapped my bacon in is very similar to a British pancake or a crape.

  • Morning to noon: I thought about having a jam session with friends, but it was raining, and I really didn’t feel like navigating the subway system. Instead, I sat around the house all day and watched YouTube videos. (bless the VPN). (Update: please don't be this lame and pathetic when you travel abroad. Don't be afraid to make mistakes and experience time with friends Don't sit around "enjoying the comforts of home" when you could be exploring because you literally gain nothing by using a VPN to watch youtube videos.)

  • Lunch: rice, potatoes, pork, cucumber, and chicken soup

  • Afternoon: I took another nap

  • 饺子: my host mom showed me how to make dumplings, but I don’t think I was very good at it because she kept showing me her’s and saying: mine is pretty. She then proceeded to re-show me how to fold the dumplings.

  • Dinner: THE DUMPLINGS!!!

  • Evening walk: We ended up going on a two hour walk after dinner, which turned out to be really nice. I didn’t realize I could see the Yahtzee River from our apartment, so we ended up walking along side it. It was absolutely beautiful. (I wish I wore bug spray.) It started raining along the way, but it kind of made the whole experience a bit more beautiful. During the walk, I asked my host mom how much a Chinese SIM card cost (I was going to buy one if it were cheap) because not being able to use my phone is very inconvenient. In order to text on my program phone in Chinese, I have to change the entire phone into Chinese. She ended up giving me a hot spot, so now I can use my phone in public when she’s near. On the way back home, we stopped by a bakery and bought some breakfast sandwiches and some white jello like substance. I think she also bought some cookies.

I really enjoyed the slow pace of today; it was nice to relax for a while.
